While the sea side has undergone many changes, the inland has maintained most of its original characteristics. The history, the culture and the environment of our inland are hosted within two fluvial valleys: the Val Conca and the Val Marecchia.

The first valley is situated behind Cattolica, with its soft hills and magnificent castles, Montefiore, Montegridolfo, Saludecio and Mondaino. The second is behind Rimini, rougher with its calcareous rocks and its impregnable castles of Verucchio, Montebello and Torriana.

First prize for typical Romagna products goes equal credit to wine and oil. The Rimini province hosts various active oil mills, especially in Verucchio, Coriano, Montefiore, Montecolombo, and Montegridolfo.  In this seaside resort oil production is carried forth all by the producers the way to the bottling.

Grapevines and wine are also protagonists of the province’s typical products. In recent years great investment has been made on the quality rather than the quantity, as was in the old days. A typical red wine is Sangiovese while within the whites Trebbiano stands out.

Famous are the Felliniani wines, the Colli di Rimini and the San Patrignano wines. Other typical products are the piadina romagnola, known world wide with the nickname “piada”, cappelletti (typical Christmas dish), passatelli and tagliatelle. Throughout the year there are many festivals celebrating Romagna’s food and the wines.
